Oia, Santorini (Thira)

Regarded by many as the most spectacular of all the Greek islands.  Thousands visit yearly to gaze in wonder at the caldera, a vestige of what was probably the biggest volcanic eruption in history.  Built on a steep slope of the caldera, many of the village of Oia's dwellings nestle in niches hewn in the volcanic rock.
